SYMPOSIUM INVITATION

Keeping science and technology always at its core, and in this regard fostering strong collaborations between industry and the academic world, SERHAM Association and the Clay Science Association are very pleased to announce that the 20th National Clay Symposium (Clay’2026 ITU) will be organized with "International Participation."

Clay’2026 ITU Symposium will be held with the valuable support of Istanbul Technical University from September 2–5, 2026, at ITU Ayazağa Campus, Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center.

As one of the world's most established technical universities, Istanbul Technical University was founded in 1773 during the reign of Sultan Mustafa III under the name Mühendishâne-i Bahrî-i Hümâyûn, making it the first technical university in Turkey. Spread across five campuses located at central points of Istanbul; it operates 13 faculties, 1 conservatory, 67 undergraduate programs, and 7 institutes offering graduate education. The university hosts over 400 laboratories and 17 research centers, and with 25 accredited engineering programs, it ranks among the European universities with the highest number of ABET accreditations. With more than 2,500 R&D projects carried out at ARI Technopark, ITU is a strong representative of the science–industry–technology ecosystem. ITU’s long-standing institutional history and intellectual heritage form a solid bridge between the past and the future.

Today, clay is a strategic raw material with versatile applications. The main theme of Clay’2026 ITU Symposium, "The Role of Clay in Future Technologies," reflects this vision. In this context, clay is poised to become a fundamental component of sustainability-focused solutions, not only in traditional applications but also in innovative and advanced technology developments.

The symposium, which aims to bring together national universities, research institutions, scientific organizations, clay producers, and suppliers active in the field of clay science and technology on a global scale, will provide a platform for evaluating current scientific and technological developments in the industry, discussing sustainable approaches, and strengthening interdisciplinary collaborations.

In line with our belief that knowledge grows through sharing and that global challenges can be addressed through collective intelligence and collaboration, we invite all stakeholders to come together on this scientific platform.

The symposium proceedings will be published with an ISBN number, including extended abstracts. Additionally, the presented papers are planned to be published in peer-reviewed journals or special issues.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would be honored to host you at ITU Ayazağa Campus, Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center, and to welcome your participation in the 20th National Clay Symposium.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee,
